The best thing about Casa Chalia is the location - very close to the bus station. Good breakfast.
Room is very small - ok for a short stay. Bit of a walk to el centro.

The owners of this hotel made our visit more enjoyable than we could have had at a larger hotel. They just could not do enough for us. They provided us with directions to anywhere in the city we wanted to go as well as good restaurants. Equally as valuable they were able to make arrangements for us to be picked up at the hotel for travel destinations outside the city . Jan cooked a different delicious breakfast each morning, which we ate on a covered patio. The rooms, while very basic, were extremely clean and well maintained. The hotel is within 10 minutes walk of the centro and we felt safe to walk this distance after dark. This is the perfect hotel for someone who does not care if they are not right in the center of the city wants a clean safe place to stay. Highly recommended.
The street noise was sometimes a little loud at night and a small dresser would be helpful in the rooms.

Great location if arriving/leaving by bus & easy walk into centre. Friendly & helpful owners, room has everything you need & there's a tranquil attractive breakfast/communal area. Jan & Linda offer a different breakfast each day & are happy to accommodate an early check- in or late check-out which is very helpful if using night buses. Would definitely stay again & would recommend it. Great value for money.

The hosts of this guest house are welcoming and very friendly. The variety in the simple complimentary breakfast was a nice touch.
The rooms were dirty: with mess and dead insects on the floor, dust on all surfaces and stains on the linen. The room is not well protected from outside insects and such, which were often found in the room. The location is ideal for the Merida bus stations, but is away from the centre of town - on suburban streets.

The staff of the hotel is very friendly and cooperative. As a solo traveler or backpacker they help you getting around Merida and enjoy your stay to the maximum. The location is 5-10 minutes walking south from the central square of the city.

15 minute walk from Grand Plaza. Jan and Linda are very good hosts. They try and help you with anything. They alone run the place, no staff so everything is very secure. Laid back atmosphere. Very nice breakfasts which are included. Excellent value for money
Rooms are rather cramped with no surface to put things on and no reading lamp. Bed was a bit hard. No comfortable chairs anywhere to relax after a hard day sightseeing!

Jan and his wife rosalinda are perfect hosts and really know what hospitality means. We really appreciated the personalized service. Also the breakfast was excellent: fresh made & healthy. We stayed at 13 different places durin our mexico trip and this was top in terms of price/quality and personalized service.
Street side rooms can be a bit noisy in the morning, but most of their rooms give out on the tranquil backyard.

Good value, no frills type accommodation, hosts were a nice couple Belgian and Mexican, located a few blocks from the two main bus stations, but a little distant from the main plaza in the centro, good breakfasts, okay place for backpackers and budget travellers. Don't expect anything fancy or extraordinary and you'll be fine.

Good location, close to ADO station, the owner reads your comments on Booked.net (eg. early arrival) what happened only here during our trip through Mexico
For is nothing, but this płace is more "family-stay" than regular hotel - for some it could be good and for some bad...

The hosts are lovely, they do their best for you to feel good.
Far from the city center, small room, noisy street, bad matress... I did not really like my stay to Casa Chalia, I guess the fact that the city really disappointed us has something to do in my opinion.

Friendly owners! They provided us many valuable information about travel tips. And the restaurant they recommended was good.
Some mosquitos, although it was actually not their fault.

I liked the huge, clean room with a king size bed.
I was disappointed by the obsolescence of the bathroom. Even though they were clean, they definitely need an update. Another problem is that, although the owner is very nice and tries to help, she was almost never around, especially in the important moments when we wanted to ask for information or when we were leaving the room for good. 24-Hour hotel desks are much better in this respect!

The owners are very friendly and extremly helpful, the breakfast is delicious, there is a wide range of fruits and also an autentic Mexican dish or continental breakfast (sandwiches) are served. The accomodation is close (for an 10 minutes walk) to the city center.
